Peer Support Services
A Certified Peer Support Specialist(CPS) is someone who helps youth, young adults, and adults with a mental health diagnosis to become more independent, to develop self-care, skills (such as budgeting, shopping, cooking, housekeeping, and interview skills), to develop their support networks, and to effectively use community resources (housing, crisis support, employment, and education).
A CPS is someone who has experienced mental health problems and has learned ways to cope so that they can now help others who are still struggling.
