| How Do I Get Services for My Child? |
Children must have Medical Assistance to be eligible for Family-Based Services. Please note: medical assistance eligibility is not necessarily determinant upon income. If a child has a mental health and/or physical health diagnosis they may qualify under the Loophole program. Please contact your local DPW office for additional information or to apply (Clarion office: 814.226.1700).

Family-Based services (FBMHS) must be recommended by a Psychologist, Psychiatrist, or by a Primary Care Physician.
Medical assistance covers initial psychological evaluations. Psychological evaluations through Shamrock Solutions can be scheduled through Marissa Peters, Family-Based Program Coordinator 814.223.8696x104. Marissa can also help determine whether a Best Practice Prescription Letter can be utilized. It is often helpful to have a description of behaviors of concern and any school reports such as reprimand records, Behavior plans, or IEPs, if applicable. In addition to a recommendation by a Psychologist/Psychiatrist/Physician, services must then be approved by Community Care Behavioral Health--a managed care company that oversees Family-Based services.
For FBMHS, a pre certification is sent to Community Care Behavioral Health and a response is given within 2 business days. You will then be contacted by Marissa Peters, Family-Based Program Coordinator, to set up an intake appointment to begin services, which will typically occur in your home. For additional questions regarding Family-Based Mental Health Services through Shamrock, please contact Marissa at 814.223.8696 x104.
